Thomas J. Hovland

Thomas J. Hovland, 66, of Bedford, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at his residence.

Tom was born June 7, 1957, the son of LaVerne and Murial Hovland. Tom attended and graduated from Colfax High School in 1975.

Shortly after graduation, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Navy after 22 years as a Chief Gunners Mate.

After retiring, he worked for several years as a civilian for the military, working for several years in the Mideast and later working various jobs to keep busy.

Tom loved the Navy and his time serving. He was an avid collector of sports memorabilia and an avid Packers fan.

Survivors include his wife, Christie, children Torey Hovland and Stefhen Hovland; sister, Susan Swisher, and brother, Richard Hovland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lavern, James, Robert, Michael and Charles, and sisters Barbara and Marjorie.

Cremation was chosen with burial at sea at a later date.
