Susan E. Anderson, age 78, of Glenwood City, WI died Friday, May 10, 2024, peacefully in her home.

Sue was born December 3, 1945 in Eau Claire, WI to Edwin and Myrtle (Thorson) Carlson.

She attended the rural Ridge View School before graduating from Glenwood City High School in 1964.

Following her schooling Sue went the Twin Cities where she worked for an insurance company and Montgomery Ward.

Sue later married Ellison “Al” Anderson on September 18, 1965 at Faith Lutheran Church in Glenwood City, WI. They lived in the Twin Cities for a time moving to Hammond, WI and then back to Glenwood City where they purchased her family farm. They raised 5 children on this farm, while also working at Glenhaven Inc, Murkley’s Dime Store and later retiring from the Cenex Co-op.

She enjoyed quilting, cross stitch – making everyone tree ornaments for Christmas. She also loved going to barn dances and fishing when she could. Sue was also very active in her church enjoying everything from quilting to playing in the hand bell choir.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband Al, Son-in-law Greg Hagman, Brothers David and Ken Carlson and Sisters Phyllis Carlson and Arlene Hill.

Sue is survived by her children: Dean, Brian (Renee), Craig (Julie), Dian (Leenger) Vargas and Jody Hagman. Grandchildren: Kellie (Joey) Marko, Jessica (Josh) White, Gavin and Valdin Anderson, Nyah, Elek and Ilan Anderson, Owen Anderson, Jordyn Hagman, and Ariana, Diana and Bianca Vargar; Great Grandchildren: Harper and Greson Marko, and Lillian and Brooklyn White; Brothers: Stan (Ann) Carlson and Robert Carlson; Brother and sisters-in-law: Doug Hill, Cleo Kitchner, Rebecca Smith, Linda (Andy) Anderson, June, Bev and Barb Anderson. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City with Pastor Jonathan Zielske officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery also in Glenwood City. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, May 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior services on Friday. Memorials may go to Glenhaven Inc, the hand bell choir or donor’s choice.
