Got my ducks in a row!

I drive a Jeep and over the past couple of years, as I have returned to my Jeep in some parking lot, I find a little rubber duck attached to the door handle of my jeep.

Last Thursday evening, my grandson, Zach, and I were enjoying a hamburger at Wood City in Downtown Glenwood City and returning to my Red Jeep, there was another Rubber Duck, pushing the number that I have received to almost a dozen.

The card attached to the Rubber Ducky said the following. “Hello! Duck Duck Jeeps! You’ve been Ducked! If this brings you a smile today snap a pic and share on. One of two social medias.” 

So as long as I don’t use social media, and I use the newspaper as my social media, here is that picture and my smile and a big thank you to whomever left that rubber ducky on my door handle.

Now on to more serious business with this story from The Capitol Guardian that quoted Elon Musk. “This is a battle to the death with the anti-civilizational woke mind virus, my positions are centrist, Secure borders, Safe and clean cities, Don’t bankrupt America with spending, Racism against any race is wrong, No sterilization below the age of consent, is this right wing?”

He continued. “And, although it shouldn’t need to said, I believe in the Constitution and freedom of speech.”

According to the narrative that the Capitol Times added to Musk’s statement notes, “Yet when these issues were approached by Congress and the President, the opposite happened: there was no border wall funding, no serious efforts to reduce the uptick in violent crime being seen in American cities, no prohibitions on the use of funds for discriminatory DEI hiring practices, no prohibitions on transgender youth surgeries and all prohibitions on government censorship of social media were stripped out, it is not Elon Musk who is out of step with the vast majorities of Americans, but the entrenched establishment in Washington D.C. who refuses to listen to the people. Musk is right, we are in a ‘battle to the death’ against woke, and the American people are losing.”

So, what does WOKE mean? I looked in the Slang Dictionary for this explanation: “Woke means being conscious of racial discrimination in society and other forms of oppression and injustice. In mainstream uses, Woke can also more generally describe someone as being ‘with it’.

But I like the meaning that I found in my 2008 Oxford dictionary as “Woke—past of Wake. So, if your awake you will not let anyone pull the woke over on you.
