Richard Anthony “Dick” Obermueller, age 81 of Glenwood City, WI. Died Monday January 22, 2024 at Glenhaven Inc. with hospice.
Dick was born November 4, 1942 in the twp. Of Glenwood, WI to Edward and Hattie (Hirsch) Obermueller.
He attended the local rural school and later graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1961 after receiving a FFA state farmer award in 1960. Dick spent most of his life in the Glenwood area only during the time he worked for Andersen Windows and Montgomery Wards.
Dick married Grace Mary Mahoney on May 2, 1964 at St John’s Catholic Church and they were blessed with four children, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. While raising the family Dick also farmed, road construction on I 94, Kwik Trip and the local feed mill. He also worked for Minnesota Breeders, Select Sires and Sire Power.
Dick loved Percheron horses, going to tractor pulls, horse pulls, bowling, playing softball and football in high school. He was avid fan of his beloved Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers and the Hilltoppers.
Dick is preceded in death by his son Joe, parents and brothers Francis, Jim, and Jerome.
He is survived wife Grace, children Lori (Dion) Klinger, Rick (Lori) Obermueller and Dan Obermueller. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren Marietta (Cory) Britton, Bethanne (Sam) DeStefano, Valori (Isaac) Burton, Jenesa Klinger (Carson Strong), Joe Obermueller Fiance Ashlee Peterson, Jake Obermueller, Lisa (Kirk) Alger and Dustin Avery. Great grandchildren Brody and Cayson Britton, Jacob Burton, Kaylie and Garett Avery, Lana and Damon Alger. Siblings Mary (Barry) Mahoney, Margaret (Jim) Jirsa, Bob (Theresa) Obermueller, Don (Star) Obermueller, Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Kathy Obemueller, Mary (John) Mikla, Pat (Melinda) Mahoney, Jim (Keri) Mahoney and Margaret (Dennis) Ohman. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dick was lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 at St Johns the Baptist Catholic Church with celebrant Father John Long. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City and one prior on Friday at the church.
