What do they know that the rest of us don’t?
Several news reports surfaced last week about how well the stock market is doing and that many members of congress have done much better than us regular folks. I wonder if members of congress have some inside information about the stock market that gives them an advantage.
According to a report on FOX with host Jesse Watters, who cited a report showing lawmakers that outperformed the stock market last year, 61 lawmakers did much better than the S & P showed for other investors.
The report stated that the stock market was up 24.8 percent last year. He listed 31 members of congress who out gained the market by more than three times for some in congress. “Many in Congress made unusually timed trades resulting in high gains,” Watters’ report stated.”
I looked over the list of Congress people that Watters had listed in his report and could not find any representative from Wisconsin and the only name I recognized locally was Tina Smith from Minnesota who had a twelve percent return above that SPY report. Watters’ stated, “Ladies and Gentleman, this is what corruption looks like and that is why Congress still hasn’t passed a ban on insider stock trades.”
Of the 31 on the list, it was almost half and half divided between the two parties.
I watched President Biden’s speech last week and he did a very good job in delivery on the subject of the January 6th storming of the capital in Washington. But I was disappointed that he did not bring up any subject other than the January 6th event. I would like to have him tell us what his plans are for the future.
He could have talked about inflations that have brought record high prices for the goods that we use. If he gets another four years in the Oval Office, will another ten million people cross into the United States? What are his plans about the two wars that are on going? I will be listing for his next campaign speech to find out what his plans are. At present he is slinging against Trump about our freedom and the Capital event.
Federal prosecutors have charged more than 1265 defendants across all 50 states, with more than 450 imprisoned for their role in the Capitol attack. There have been 718 guilty pleas.
