I only knew John when we were in our late teens, since we both went to Marshall High in S.E. Mpls. His brother, Frank, was in my class, but it was John I knew as a friend, rather than Frank. I had a 1958 black Impala, and John thought this was a great car, and that’s why we became friends – because of a truly gorgeous car. I considered John a special friend – he was the nicest guy – and I’m so sorry to read of his loss. Since he was only a year older than me, I have to say that he passed away much too soon. I emailed him a few years ago, telling him what a special friend he was, someone you felt lucky to have as a friend, and someone you will never forget for his kindness. I would like to think he was able to read that email, to know a friend would always remember him, and very kindly. I’m so sorry for his family, and would like you all to know that John was a wonderful person from Day One.
