Your Constitutional rights

How do you feel about your constitutional rights that are guaranteed to you under the First Amendment to the Constitution? Could you see yourself as the subject of political harassment by the IRS or being called a domestic terrorist because you stood up at a school board meeting or voiced your opinion at a city council meeting?

In Glenwood City, you are not allowed to voice your thoughts during the meeting, your have to write them down before hand and they are read during the meeting.

But, what I am trying to get across by asking if you really feel free in his country or could you be the target of some sort of government reprisal because of your political or religious beliefs. I think we all have taken notice of recent censorship done by social media.

Now we have the indictment of former President Donald Trump, and I would like to print a statement by Rick Manning of Americans For Limited Government president.

“The indictment of President Trump over charges that he paid an extortionist who at various times claimed that she did or did not have sex with him almost twenty years ago is a stain on our judicial system.

“It is said that a prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich, and the NYC DA has done just that. A case that was rejected by the prior DA, the son of former Secretary of State under Jimmy Carter, Cyrus Vance. A case that was rejected by the US Attorneys office in the southern District of New York. Both of these prosecutors were renowned Trump opponents.

“Yet, it has been revived by a George Soros sponsored District Attorney in a bid for celebrity amongst the Trump Derangement Syndrome crowd.

“At a time when our nation is frayed almost to a breaking point, few things could have happened worse for a restoration of our nation’s sense of common pride and purpose.

“Of course, this should not be surprising, Soros’ money has been used as a wrecking ball against our nation’s rule of law and election system over the past decade with the clear goal of destroying America as we know it.”

Now we have another possible assault on our freedom and that is a new bill that is being suggested which is a threat to websites and apps that allow free speech on their platforms.

The RESTRICT Act. Would address free speech on platforms with more than one million users that challenge the reported results of a federal election. Here is what we will face if this bill becomes law.

If someone says, a candidate probably, somebody else won the election (other than the reported winner of a Federal election) and that it was rigged or corrupt, and that is what Donald Trump said in 2020 or former 2016 Green Party nominee Jill Stein or Al Gore in 2000 did by challenging the reported results of the presidential elections of 2000, 2016 and 2020. They could face being indicted.

If you have not figured it out by now, every time the government makes some sort of rule or regulation, that means you have lost a freedom. The best thing that could happen to us as citizens right now is that Congress should take a vacation, unpaid of course, and that vacation will not end until January 3, 2025, that should give us some relief.
