The State of the Union!

I watched the entire hour-long “State of the Union” address by President Joe Biden last Tuesday night. He sure painted a rosy picture of our economics and how good things could be if his spending bills would get enacted.

He said that “WE” want to rebuild our highways and bridges. “WE” want to do this and “WE” want to do that, but what he wants is to spend your money. I agree we need money for better and safer roads. But he wants to give away more money to the populace. It would be better to find them a job.

But, his entire speech was saying things that his advisors knew we wanted to hear. Like more funding to the police, taking care of our veterans, stopping the flow of drugs at our southern border, kicking Putin in the butt, helping the Ukrainians, lower medical costs, especially medicine.

He did not request more money for our national defense, and that is probably the most pressing item facing us right now, while we wonder where Putin will stop or will he be removed from his dictators chair?

We all have our opinion and mine is that things are not going well in the Oval Office. There is that old saying that, “the new broom sweeps clean.” Biden’s broom has no bristles. But I like the one, “the old broom knows where the dirt is.”

Speaking of the border wall, I got an email from Texas Governor Greg Abbott last week, and I will print part of that email.

“Carlton, I’m so excited to announce that we’re officially building the border wall in Texas.

“While Biden does nothing, we’re stepping up to protect our communities and to keep Texans and Americans safe.

“The lack of action by the Biden Administration is disgusting, which is why I need to ask for your help.”

“This is our chance to show the Biden Administration that Texans and Americans support the construction of the border wall in the Lone Star State.”

So, I just might send $25.00 to Abbott for the border wall.

Politicians are blaming each other for what is happening in Ukraine. But all the blame should be laid at the feet of Putin and not any leader or former leader here. But blame is spread out all over. With CNN’s Jake Topper relating, “Biden is not getting credit for his handling of the war between Russia and Ukraine.”

“Much of the fault of what is happening in Ukraine lies with the Trump administration,” said Anna Applebaum of the Atlantic.

Republican lawmakers told Fox News, “they believe Biden is getting a pass from the media about the war in Ukraine.”

The only good news to come out of Ukraine is that Russian and Ukrainian negotiators agreed to establish corridors to allow citizens to leave the besieged cities.

Things would be much better if we all got along and told things as they are.
