He had no plan!
I might have started this column off with “What was he thinking?” President Biden apparently did not have any type of plan for Afghanistan, except setting a date to get our service people out of that terrorist country. I don’t know how he could have been advised, to do what he did?
I can’t believe that the people he has hired to advise him, suggested that he take all the service people out of Afghanistan and leave American citizens stranded. A report that I read on Monday morning stated that somewhere between 1,500 and 4,100 Americans are stranded in Afghanistan. Reports also indicated that no more rescue missions would be undertaken. If he has not yet fired those advisors, he should do it today.
Reports also indicated that we left billions of dollars worth of military equipment behind that has now fallen into the hands of Taliban and other terrorist groups and I will place money on those weapons being used against our brave service men and women in the near future. Apparently, there was no attempt by the Pentagon to order those weapons, left behind, to be destroyed.
Friday evening I wanted to find out more information on what was happening in Afghanistan, so I tuned in to CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, and Fox News. Only Fox News was carrying any information about the issue. The rest had some report about the Chinese connection with the virus. A report that the Chinese were flooding the states with bogus vaccination cards. It was noted that there were a couple of spelling mistakes on the bogus card.
Another news channel was trying to divert my attention away from Afghanistan and they were focusing on old news, especially the January 6th storming of the Capital. And another had a piece trying to tell me how bad it was to watch Fox News.
Apparently, to me anyway, it looks like President Joe Biden’s health is deteriorating and that was pointed out by many. Even many of his party supporters have apparently abandoned him and there are calls for him to step down. If his party members are not seeking his removal, they have left him holding the bag.
I would like to see him go, but with all these issues that Biden has got himself and this country into, where in the hell is the Vice President, and for that matter, I did not see the Secretary of State or Secretary of Defense coming forward with any advice on how to get this matter taken care of and get our people out. We have lost this battle and this war, thanks Joe.
The only member of the military was a Lt. Colonel who told that his superiors’ needed to be held accountable, and he quickly lost his job.
Columnist George Will, writing in the Sunday St. Paul Pioneer Press had this to say about Biden’s Afghanistan policy.
“In the immediate aftermath of the heroic rescue of soldiers from Dunkirk, Winston Churchill addressed the British as adults, reminding them that ‘wars are not won by evacuations,’ ”
And about keeping the peace, Will wrote: “Every war, even inconclusive ones, must end, but not like this. In late November 1952, president-elect Dwight D. Eisenhower flew in a light plane over the front lines in Korea. In his 1963 memoirs he recalled. ‘That any frontal attack would present great difficulties.’ He decided to seek a negotiated end to the war. Sixty-nine years later, there are 28,500 U.S. troops, and peace, on the Korean Peninsula.”
