SHIRLEY E. STONE

Shirley E. Stone passed away at Glenhaven Nursing Home in Glenwood City, WI on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin E. and Jennie V. (Johnson) Stone.

Shirley was born August 25, 1927, in Eau Claire, WI and raised in Glenwood City where she later graduated from high school in 1945. She continued her education earning her Teaching and Library Science Degrees from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. She worked as a Librarian until retiring in 1985.

Shirley enjoyed the arts, playing golf, and bridge. She traveled extensively, domestically and internationally with her longtime friend, roommate and fellow teacher, Pat Connors of Minneapolis.

Fiercely independent, strong in her faith and active in her church and community, Shirley was a kind, giving, and generous soul who always looked after others and shunned attention to herself.

Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her many friends, extended family members and her former colleagues, students, and associates in the St. Louis Park Public School System, St. Louis Park, MN.

Celebration of Life services will be at the United Methodist Church 240 E Oak St. Glenwood City, WI at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2021. Interment of cremains will be in the Mound Cemetery Downing, WI. Friends may call a the church one hour prior to services.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Glenhaven Nursing Home or the United Methodist Church of Glenwood City.
