BOYCEVILLE — The Boyceville Cucumber Festival is returning this year under the theme of “Return of the Pickle” after being postponed last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cucumber Festival begins on Friday, August 20, at 6 p.m. with the Bulldog tailgate party and games in the Buckshot Backyard, followed at 6:30 p.m. by the “Ain’t No One Horse Town Horse Parade” and the Bulldog football game versus Independence/Gilmanton at 7 p.m.
On Friday from 8 p.m. to midnight, live music by “Flashpoint” will be in the firefighters’ tent.
Festival-long events include the 19th annual tractor show on Main Street; a softball tournament; food vendors; Outlaw Farms Petting Zoo; and the Golden Pickle Contest.
Clues for the Golden Pickle Contest will be posted at 9 a.m. on the Boyceville Community Action Club’s Facebook page.
Pickle Central
Pickle Central will be located on Main Street and will be open on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Festival t-shirts will be available at Pickle Central, along with pickle novelties, pickle creations, the homemade pickle contest, a pickle eating contest and general information.
Saturday
Saturday, August 21, the Boyceville Cucumber Festival will feature at 8:30 a.m. the 20th Annual Cucumber 5-K and one mile run/walk, which will begin at Boyceville Middle School.
The 11th Annual Car Show Saturday on Main Street is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Free Pilates in the park with Awbria will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the Boyceville High School park.
The firefighters’ tent will feature Bingo from 11 a.m. Saturday until 2 p.m.
Otter Creek Christian Fellowship will offer free games from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Outlaw Farms Petting Zoo will be available on Main Street from 11 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m.
A bean bag tournament will begin at Buckshot Bar beginning at noon.
An escape room will be located on Main Street from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday.
The pickle-eating contest begins at 2 p.m. on Main Street.
A softball game featuring the Boyceville firefighters versus the Glenwood City firefighters will start at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pafko Park.
The car parade on Main Street will be held at 3 p.m.
A tractor parade begins at 6 p.m. Saturday on Main Street.
“Whiskey Stone” live music will be featured at the firefighters’ tent from 8 p.m. until midnight on Saturday.
Sunday
The Boyceville Cucumber Festival starts off bright and early Sunday morning with the Boyceville Airport pancake breakfast and candy drop beginning at 7 a.m. and going until 11 a.m. The pancake breakfast is sponsored by the Boyceville Airport Booster Club.
From 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, Trinity Lutheran Church will be holding a pie and lunch social.
The Ninja Anywhere obstacle course will be on Main Street from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
D.J. Trivia will begin in the firefighters’ tent at 11 a.m.
The candy drop will be held at 11 a.m. at Boyceville Municipal Airport.
The escape room on Main Street will be available from 11 a.m. Sunday to 3 p.m.
Outlaw Farms Petting Zoo also will be open on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Grand Parade, led by Grand Marshals Pastor Brad and Amy Peterson, will start at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Otter Creek Christian Fellowship will offer free games from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Following the parade Sunday afternoon, “Marshall Star Duo The Deputies” live music will be at the firefighters’ tent, and a pedal tractor pull will be held on Main Street.
