COMMUNITY CENTER RAZED — Thursday, June 17 marked the end of an era as the Glenwood City Community Center was razed by a crew from Chippewa Valley Excavating to make room for a new $2.4 million structure that will house the Glenwood City public library, city hall, police department, and community center. Construction of the much larger facility is expected to last throughout the summer. By Friday afternoon, all that remained of the local landmark was the foundation. Since the late 1970s, the Glenwood City Community Center, located on the north side of the 200 block of West Oak Street, hosted government and organization meetings, elections and many community and private gatherings and served as the local senior nutrition center. —photo by Shawn DeWitt
