Drugs, not guns are the problem!
Because a couple of nuts went berserk and took lives in Georgia and Colorado a couple of weeks ago, every liberal including our President are blaming guns and not looking into who pulled the trigger and why?
There is nothing that we can say or do that will ease the pain of these families involved, but to offer our prayers to aid them in their grief.
As I said last week, guns are getting the blame and President Biden wants to ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines. An assault weapon is a semi-automatic gun that will accept a magazine. I would think that almost anyone who is a gun owner probably has at least one gun that fits that description.
After I had written last week’s column, I was listening to Bill O’Reilly on talk radio and he explained that over seventy percent of the crimes involving guns are because of illegal dugs.
People who are hooked on drugs use guns to commit crimes in order to get money to buy those illegal drugs, or there is a fight over territory to sell drugs and guns are used by the bad guys to enforce their drug sales.
So, if President Biden wants to stop people from shooting each other, put an end to the drug problem. But, good luck on that. I can remember back in the 1950s President Eisenhower was very concerned about illegal drugs after that the federal government under President Richard Nixon, started the “War on Drugs.” It appears to me that it’s a war where battles are won, but a never-ending war.
Last Monday morning on “Fox and Friends” an item was aired about the homeless people in Seattle. They have set up tent cities in playgrounds, parks and ball fields, and right next to public schools.
The debris left on the ground includes used needles; drug items and stoves use to cook drugs. This is in an area where young children play. It appears that local officials are not concerned about these drug cities and do not have a plan to cleanup the mess. But, Seattle is not the only place in this great country that has that problem. I wish I had a quick solution to the drug problem, but one thing that is going to make it worse is that some states are legalizing Marijuana for recreational use and to me Marijuana is just a gateway drug that will lead the person smoking it into harder drugs.
So, lets roll up are sleeves and go to work to eliminate our drug problem and save lives in the process. Let’s do that before our values as a society go up in smoke and we sit aside while some other invaders take over control, as we are burning up high on smoke.
Over this past week, I have received several comments about my last gun column. From (please use only my initials) RDL comes a list of gun sayings, but one is about Norman Mattoon Thomas (1884 to 1968). Thomas was a leading American socialist, pacifist and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America.
In a 1944 speech, Thomas, said, “The American People will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened. I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.”
If you aren’t scared, you’re not listening. He was one of the founders of the American Civil Liberties Union.
