Dig deeper, prices going up!
When Joe Biden was running for president, he did not make a lot of public appearances, but he did tell us that taxes and prices would be going up. And, guess what? They are, just take a look at the price of gasoline as it is heading toward the three-dollar mark and I will predict that it will be well over that amount, come summer.
Now some of my friends will tell me that the price of gasoline is not the doings of the president or of his policies. But, I know that if the price were falling, the Biden administration would be taking credit for that. I am wondering what tax bill the Democratic Congress will come up with for our tax bill payable in 2022.
It looks like the president will push for the $15.00 minimum wage. It was not that long ago, at McDonalds, for five bucks, you could get a hamburger, fries and a drink, now the cost is over eight and if that fifteen dollar wages goes into effect, that burger basket will be over ten bucks, I think. That will put a load on the backs of us old people living on a fixed income.
In another matter, during the campaign leading up to the November election I got many requests for donations to campaigns, some days the number of requests ran as high as 75. But, even now with the election being over for more than three months, I am still getting requests from many. Last Friday morning, I had over 50 by noon plus a couple that I got in the mail with one that was a letter to renew my membership in the Republican Party. I don’t remember that I had a membership this past year. Included in the email requests was a lady running for senate from Ohio, as well as a lady by the name of Claudia Tunney for congress from New York.
Here are some more requests. One from the “House Republicans” that requested $35.00 right now to the Special Election Fund. “We need to flip five states to take back the house,” the request said.
One request was from our governor, Tony Evers. “Chip in ten bucks or more so Tony is ready for whoever runs against him.”
From the House Conservatives, “Joe Biden, on day one stopped the Keystone XL pipeline. We need leaders in Washington who will fight for hard working Americans.” Here somebody is matching your donation adding five dollars for every one dollar you donate.
Here is one that I like, from the Senate Conservative Fund, (whoever they are): “The U. S. Senate needs a good old fashioned house cleaning. Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are power hungry liberals, and sadly, far too many Republicans lack the spine to stand up to them.” Here the donation starts at $25.00 and up.
And, Judicial Watch needs funds to fight the uncontrolled illegal immigration.
So, now if you are looking for a place to unload some of your hard earned money, just let me know and I will send a couple of these requests over to you.
I would like to note about the temperatures in our great area. As I was writing this on Monday morning, February 22 the temperatures at our office in Glenwood City was 25 degrees, which is about average for this late in February, but what I would tell you it is 56 degrees warmer than it was a week earlier.
Thanks for reading! ~Carlton
