BOYCEVILLE — The Boyceville school district has seven new teachers this year.
The Tribune Press Reporter sent out questionnaires to them, and here are their profiles.
Berend
VALERIE BEREND
Valerie Berend is the new agriculture teacher at Boyceville High School and Boyceville Middle School and replaces Glenn Knudtson.
She grew up in Howard, a suburb of Green Bay, and graduated from Bay Port High School in 2016.
She graduated with a degree in Agricultural Education from UW-River Falls this spring.
Berend will be teaching 7th and 8th grade agriculture, Agriculture Orientation, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Power and Agricultural Mechanics.
She was an agriculture department intern teacher in the Fort Atkinson school district where she completed her student teaching this spring.
Berend lives in Boyceville.
Johnson
Sarah Johnson is the new Family and Consumer Education teacher at Boyceville High School and Boyceville Middle School and replaces Laura Debee.
Johnson is originally from Rice Lake and graduated from high school there in 2009.
She earned a degree from UW-Stout in Family Consumer Science & Health Science in 2013.
Johnson will be teaching Family Consumer Science at the high school and FCE Exploratory at the middle school.
She says she has taught “all over Wisconsin” but most recently taught in the River Falls school district.
For the past three years, Johnson has been working as a school counselor but is excited to get back into the classroom.
She and her husband, Chris, live in New Richmond.
Mittlestadt
Christina Mittlestadt is the new fourth grade teacher at Tiffany Creek Elementary and replaces Bryor Hellmann.
Mittlestadt graduated with a a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood minor from UW-Superior in 2019.
She will be teaching fourth grade math and social studies.
Mittelstadt and her husband and their son and daughter have lived in Boyceville the past four years. Prior to that, they lived in Rice Lake for 10 years.
Perrenoud
MOLLIE PERRENOUD
Mollie Perrenoud is the new Spanish teacher at Boyceville Middle School and Boyceville High School and is replacing Katelyn Johnson.
Perrenoud grew up in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 2006.
She is a graduate of UW-River Falls with a degree in K-12 Spanish Education.
For the past seven years, Perrenoud taught Spanish in South St. Paul, Minnesota.
Perrenoud, who lives with her husband and two children in Menomonie, said they chose to move back to the area to be near their families.
Pitt
Taylor Pitt is the new elementary guidance counselor at Tiffany Creek Elementary and replaces Jacinda Fischer.
Pitt is from Menomonie, graduated from Menomonie High School in 2011 and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Physical Education and Communicative Disorders and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling in 2019 from UW-River Falls.
Pitt will be teaching classes in social/emotional learning.
Pitt says Western Wisconsin has always been home for her.
“When the job at Tiffany Creek Elementary opened up, I knew it would be a great way to give back to the local community where I was raised,” she said.
Syverson
Amber Syverson will be the new four-year-old kindergarten teacher at Tiffany Creek Elementary and replaces Abby Dicks.
She grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 2002.
Syverson earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from UW-Stout in 2009.
Prior to accepting the position at Boyceville, she worked at the Child and Family Study Center at UW-Stout.
Syverson lives in Menomonie with her husband, Travis, and stepdaughter, Whitley.
Wolf
Marki Wolf is the new kindergarten teacher at Tiffany Creek Elementary and replaces Deb Bell.
Wolf grew up in Boyceville, graduated from Boyceville High School in 2016 and earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from UW-Stout in 2020.
“I love my hometown and the community. I am excited to teach with such amazing staff,” Wolf said.
