BOYCEVILLE — Six candidates are running for three positions on the Boyceville Village Board in the April 7 election.
The candidates are Jonathan Farrell, Laura Kincade, Michael Ludwig, Megan Mittlestadt, Robert Rieckenberg and Keith Sorensen.
The Tribune Press Reporter sent out questionnaires to the candidates.
Here are Megan Mittlestad’s answers to the questionnaire.
• What is your occupation?
Auditor.
• Tell us about your family.
Husband Jeremy. Children: JB (9), Myla (6), Charlotte (3).
• Why did you decide to run for election?
I decided to run for village board because I would like to contribute to the process of building a better Boyceville. My husband and I are raising three children in Boyceville and want to actively participate in developing a town our children want to return to as adults.
• What makes you suited to serve on the village board?
I am a CPA with operational auditing experience in Fortune 500 Companies. Additionally, I served as the County Treasurer for three years. I can bring a unique combination of large corporation and local government experience.
• What issues do you see as being the most important for Boyceville?
Economic Development. Boyceville has some great attributes (see the HGTV Home Town Takeover Entry Video I along with a team of other community members created to highlight said attributes) that make this a wonderful place to raise a family. However, as our stagnant population evidences, they are not enough to attract new families to move here. We need to attract businesses and families to move to Boyceville and contribute to our economic lifecycle.
• What issues would you like to see addressed by the village board?
Similar to above, I would like to see the board focus on how to encourage businesses and families to move to Boyceville. I would like to see the board explore resources and tools at our disposal.
• Why are you the best candidate?
As discussed above, I bring unique experience from both corporate America and local government. I am confident that Boyceville can grow and prosper with focused, committed, and determined leadership. Boyceville has some amazing qualities that are begging to be capitalized. I want to be part of the team that develops Boyceville into the town it is capable of being.
