BOYCEVILLE  — Six candidates are running for three positions on the Boyceville Village Board in the April 7 election.

The candidates are Jonathan Farrell, Laura Kincade, Michael Ludwig, Megan Mittlestadt, Robert Rieckenberg and Keith Sorensen.

The Tribune Press Reporter sent out questionnaires to the candidates. 

Here are Laura Kincade’s answers to the questionnaire.

• What is your occupation? 

Client Information Specialist at West CAP.

• Tell us about your family. 

I live with my husband (Tony Kincade), 2 dogs (Curly and Gilbert) and 1 cat (Bart).

• Why did you decide to run for election?

I decided to run for Boyceville Village Board because I want to help bridge the gap between community members and local government. I would like to help ensure that we have a local government that will listen to all community members and respect all opinions.

• What makes you suited to serve on the village board?

For the past 5 years I have served as a volunteer for the Boyceville Community Action Club (CAC). While volunteering my time for the CAC I have helped to put on many local events such as the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Spirit of Christmas, and of course the Cucumber Festival. Volunteering and being present at these events have made me more aware of the community’s concerns and interests.

• What issues do you see as being the most important for Boyceville?

I feel that the issue of development, as a whole, is very important. Whether that be housing, economic or business development. We need to continue improving our village, so business will want to be a part of our community. My husband works right here in Boyceville, and I work in Glenwood City.  We truly appreciate the small-town living and sense of community small towns offer. I would love for others to share in all that Boyceville can give.

• What issues would you like to see addressed by the village board?

As I mentioned, I am concerned with the issue of development. And that is across the board. I would love to see our town cosmetically look better as well as grow economically. I think that the board has done a good job with this issue, and I would like to be a part of the forward momentum and continue building on Boyceville’s potential. I also think that finances are always an important issue that will continue to be addressed.

• Why are you the best candidate?

I will stand up for what is in the best interest of the community and what will be beneficial to the greatest majority. I am open minded and excited to learn more of how the local government works. I will not be afraid to ask the tough questions, even if it goes against the current opinion.
