Dear Community Partners & County Residents,
The Dunn County Health Department continues to work closely with partners in our local businesses, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), health systems, higher education, law enforcement and school districts to prepare our community in the event that we do have a COVID-19 case in the county. Please know that the health and safety of all community members is our highest priority.
No Dunn County COVID-19: At this time, there are no positive cases of the COVID-19 in Dunn County. Currently there are 19 travel related cases in the State, including one person who has recovered. Even in communities with cases, the risk of infection is low.
Find the Facts: The situation is changing rapidly. This is because we learn more about the novel coronavirus and more people are tested every day. Accessing good, up to date information is important to combat rumors and stay up to date with the facts. I encourage you to check the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and CDC sites regularly.
• DHS- https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/disease/covid-19.htm
• CDC- https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/summary.html
Stay Healthy: There are everyday health habits you can do to prevent getting sick.
• Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for 20 seconds.
• Cover your cough & sneeze with a tissue or the bend of your elbow.
• Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose and mouth.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces often with your normal cleaning products.
• Stay home from work if you are sick.
Call First: If you have symptoms and want to be tested for COVID-19, you need to call your care provider. It is important that healthy people and healthcare providers are not exposed to this virus. Please call first, so they can give you instructions to keep everyone healthy.
Prioritized Testing: If you do become sick with flu/cold like symptoms AND if you have traveled to a place in the U.S. or abroad with community spread of COVID-19, OR you have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you should be prioritized for testing. Please contact your healthcare provider for direction.
Uncertainty impacts people’s physical and mental well-being. Know that we are working together to keep the community heathy. If you have any questions call or email us at DOH@co.dunn.wi.us.
Respectfully,
KT Gallagher, MPA
Director/Health Officer
