No political speeches at Golden Globes night!
It seems that whenever a crowd gathers and a liberal gets a chance to mouth off, they step forward, put their foot in their mouths and call conservatives some sort of bad name.
I have for a long time made a point not to watch any program where people that are involved in the film industry have a chance to spout off in front of a microphone.
The words got very bad, when actor Robert De Niro took the stage at the Tony Awards back in June of 2018. “It’s no longer down with Trump, but F— Trump,” De Niro shouted into the mic.
“The stars sitting in front of him roared in approval,” The Miami Herald reported. “But, those at home heard bleeps instead, but they didn’t miss the message, and they weren’t as receptive to the rhetoric,” The Herald stated.
De Niro’s rage not only angered conservatives but card-carrying liberals as well. But, De Niro was not the only film star to use the public airwaves to denounce conservatives and Republican presidents. It’s been going on for a long time.
For those of us that were born back before 1980, we can remember the United States Senator from Minnesota, by the name of Paul Wellstone. I thought he was a nice guy, but he was so liberal that he could not get any other member of congress to support his agenda.
Wellstone was campaigning for re-election in late October of 2002 when his twin engine plane crashed in northern Minnesota, killing him, his wife, daughter and several other people.
A memorial service was held for the Wellstone’s on October 31, 2002, and then Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura (Independent) attended the memorial service, but, he walked out of the service.
Ventura said that he walked out of the Republican bashing memorial service for Wellstone because he felt violated by the harsh tone. “I feel violated and duped over the fact that it turned into nothing more than a Democratic rally,” said the pro wrestler, actor, turned governor as Wellstone’s replacement, former Vice President Walter Mondale, began the five-day senate race against Republican Norm Coleman.
A Wellstone spokesman said, “We apologize to anyone who may have been offended, but added that emotions ran high among mourners because Wellstone endured a year of vicious false attacks.”
If the Wellstone camp were up and running today, I wonder how they would feel about the vicious attacks on President Trump. I don’t know how one person can absorb such abuse, as Trump has for the past three years?
Now comes the good part of this whole story. At the Golden Globes award night last week, host Ricky Gervais delivered on his promise to take no prisoners.
According to a published article in Townhall, which stated, “No one was safe from his jokes, everything and everyone from Apple to Harvey Weinstein to the entire audience itself was skewered throughout the night.”
Gervais told the people that were up for awards, “If you win an award tonight, and don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech, alright. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So if you win, come up, accept your little award, and thank your agent, and your guard and f— off.”
The Townhall story noted, “When the audience groaned at a Jeffery Epstein did not kill himself joke, Gervais told the audience, “Shut up, I know he’s your friend, but I don’t care.”
If you don’t know who Jeffery Epstein, or Harvey Weinstein are I might enlighten you with the fact that Epstein was an American financier and a convicted sex offender who was charged with procuring an underage girl. He died from what was ruled suicide by hanging on August 10th at the New York Metropolitan Correctional Center.
Harvey Weinstein, a film producer has sexual abuse allegations against him with over 80 women who have come forward to complain about his sexual aggression against women. And, if you are not aware who Greta Thunberg is? She is the 17-year-old climate and environmental activist who recently spoke at the United Nation’s Climate Change Conference.
