Monty J. Krizan, age 74, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his California residence.
Monty was born on August 6, 1943 in Glenwood City, WI. He was the son of Albert and Irene (Frantz) Krizan. Monty graduated from Glenwood City High School, then he went on to serve his country in the 82nd Airborne in the Santo Domingo area. After his discharge, he earned a degree in Journalism & Communication from UW River Falls. He then worked for a few years before realizing his passion for reptiles and started Monty’s Traveling Reptile Show. His love and devotion to the reptiles was shared throughout North America through educational presentations, exhibits and a TV show in Canada and his legacy will continue.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Irene Krizan.
Survived by siblings, Sandra (John) Evans and Brad Krizan. Nieces, Laurie (Scott) Helberg and Diana Krizan (fiancée, Casey Loerke). Nephews, Mike (Patty) Evans and Daniel Krizan (Lesley Twedt). Great nephews Christopher and Tyler Evans. He is further survived by a multitude of family and friends who will miss his many spirited and colorful stories.
The family will host a celebration of Monty’s life on Saturday, June 30th from 1 – 4pm at the Glenwood City Community Center, 217 E. Oak St., Glenwood City, WI 54013.
