EUGENE A. “GENE” BISCHEL

Eugene A. “Gene” Bischel, age 82 of Knapp, WI died Monday, March 19, 2018 at Mayo Health Systems Red Cedar in Menomonie, WI.

Gene was born April 29, 1935 in Downing, WI to Louis and Isabella (Kliegle) Bischel. He attended grade school in Downing and later graduated from Glenwood City High School. Gene served in the U. S. Army from Sept. 1957 to June 1959.

Following his service he worked in the construction trade first for R. C. Hinman Construction and later with Lunda Construction as a crane operator, where he stayed until retiring at the age of 72. Gene married Beverly McCormick in 1977 and they moved to Knapp, WI. As a young man Gene earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying and woodworking as a hobby.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, wife Beverly, sister Helen Meacham, brother Richard and twin  brother John. Gene is survived by brothers Lorenz “Bud” and David Bischel and sister Jeanette Deluca. He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Memorial Mass was held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glenwood City with Father John Long as celebrant. Interment of cremains was in the church cemetery. Friends were able to call at the church one hour prior to services Saturday. Local arrangements by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI.
