Betty A. Hakanson, age 82, of Boyceville, WI died Thursday February 15, 2018 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, WI. 

Betty was born October 22, 1935 in Whiting, IN to Samuel M. and Julia (Plavec) Jurkovic. She was baptised at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Whiting, IN. At a young age they moved to Boyceville, WI where she was confirmed at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church  and later graduated from Boyceville High School in 1953. Betty married Lowell June 23, 1957. She worked for several local businesses, Keyes Chevrolet, AMPI and Interstate Lumber Company and later for Hight Insurance, Hedlund Insurance and Bremer as a insurance agent.

Betty enjoyed sewing, knitting, doing embroidery and reading. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she served as organist for 46 years.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lowell, brother Paul Richard Jurkovic, and sister-in-law Kathy Jurkovic.

Betty is survived by 4 children; Julie (Daniel) Behling, Thomas (Susan) Hakanson, Jennifer (Ryan) Marlett and Robert (Tammy) Hakanson. Grandchildren; Evangeline, Samantha and Patrick Behling, Brandon and Dylan Hakanson, Kurtis (Tanna Diedrich) Marlett, Shyanne and Kyle Marlett, Dante (Falyn McCracken) Marlett, Adam (Rachel) Hakanson, Brooke (Scott) O’Tool and Brittanni (Landon) Hefty. Great Grandchildren; Zoey Rae Marlett, Adalyn Hakanson, Harper Hefty and Evan Thomas Hakanson. Brothers Daniel Jurkovic, and Samuel (Joan) Jurkovic. Brother-in-law Dave Weingarten. She is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyceville, WI with Reverend Curtis Brooks officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services Tuesday. Local arrangements by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI.
