Mary L. Larsen, age 82 of Knapp, WI died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Glenhaven Inc. in Glenwood City with hospice.

Mary was born August 5, 1935 in Knapp, WI to John H. and Lola B. (Crosby) O’Mera. She attended elementary school in Downing, WI until she contracted polio, which left her legs paralyzed for the rest of her life.

After much hard work and determination, she graduated from Boyceville High School. Mary earned her Bachelor’s degree in social work from River Falls State College and later earned her Master’s Degree in psychiatric social work from the University of WI Madison. She began working in Cook County in Chicago, IL. and later pursued her career at various locations including the staff of the University of Wisconsin Hospital.

Mary married James Larsen on September 25, 1976 and they lived on the family farm for many years before moving into the village of Knapp.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brother John C. O’Mera and sister Thelma Claire O’Mera.

Mary is survived by husband James Larsen of Knapp, WI; siblings Rachael O’Mera of Boyceville, Douglas (Ruth) O’Mera of Farmington, MN, Edith (George) Radtke of Concord, CA, Nola (Darryl) Kovacik of Boyceville and Kathleen (Ron) Harper of Strum, WI; sister-in-law Deanne O’Mera of Eau Claire, WI. She is further survived by nieces, nephew other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Gospel Mission Baptist Church in Knapp, WI with Pastor Floyd Lunde and Pastor Tim Cecil officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery Knapp, WI. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.. Local arrangements by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI.
