She attended 12 years of grade and high school and one year of teacher’s college. On Jun 28, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Wesley Nichols, at the Knapp United Methodist Church. They made their home in rural Knapp where they operated a small dairy farm. In April of 1952 they purchased a farm on County Road X outside Glenwood City where they made their home and raised their children, Curt, Ken, Karen, Carol and Cheri.
Phyllis was the ultimate homemaker. She was famous for her beautiful (and very tasty) decorated cakes, and used her talent to make her children’s wedding cakes. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and sewing. Her flowers were beautiful. She also loved fishing (she was very lucky!) and she and Wes spent many happy days at their cabin near Trego. After her children were grown, she worked outside the home as well. Many will remember her from her days at the Midland Co-op and Steffen Hardware in Glenwood City. After retirement, she and Wes spent several winters in Texas and made many friends there.
Phyllis went home to Heaven on May 9, 2017, with her family around her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Allen, Gerald and Phillip, her sister Marlys, her grandson Joshua Wahl and her son-in-law Tim Larson.
