RETHIA JANE PLATSON

Rethia Jane Platson, 89 of Downing, WI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 1st, 2017.

Rethia was born in Eau Claire, WI to Charles and Anna Nichols of Knapp, WI on October 28th, 1927. Rethia attended school in Knapp, and Hammond WI and was baptized in the Methodist Church in Knapp. She married Gustave Leroy Platson (Buddy) on August 2, 1945 in Stillwater, MN. Their union was blessed with three sons and two daughters. Rethia worked alongside Buddy at the Golden Star Cooperative Cheese Factory in River Falls, for many years making cheese and keeping books. In the early 60’s they purchased their farm in Wilson, WI. Raising her children, taking care of farm animals, gardening and canning were her joys. In 1965 Buddy’s job took them to Janesville, WI. Rethia worked for Admiral T.V. in Darien, Illinois until retirement. They moved back to the farm after Buddy’s retirement and spent the summers there and the winters in Nevada. She loved bingo at the Moose Lodge and senior citizens and VFW in Wilson, fishing at their cabin and frying up their day’s catch.

Rethia loved playing cards and board games with the family (she always won). She loved the visits with family and especially the grand kids. She loved life, politics, and current events and could converse on all of them. She was one amazing child of God.
