JOHN T. RAMIREZ
John T. Ramirez, age 70 of Woodville, WI, died on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
John was born on October 20, 1946, in Chicago, IL, to parents Roy, Sr., and Jenny (Cerda) Ramirez. After high school John set out at a young age to join the United States Navy, where he would serve his country during the Vietnam War. John worked many jobs to provide for his family, such as driving truck, driving bus for the CTA, and also working at Jerome’s Foods for many years before retiring in approximately 2000.
John lived his life, simple and content. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago White Sox. The kind of man who would do anything for others, John took great joy in helping someone and always had a infectious smile to share. As a young man he enjoyed his weekend camping trips with family. In later years, John enjoyed his weekly trips to the VA Medical Center where he was always among friends. His caring nature made him a great friend to many other veterans there. John cherished time spent with family, especially his grandchildren, and going to their sporting events. John also enjoyed Sunday morning coffee, taking a nap, or just relaxing on the deck.
John is survived by his daughters, Sonya (Michael) Mahoney, Vanessa (Joshua) Melstrom, and Gabby Walther; grandchildren, Anthony Melstrom, Connor Cook, Axel Mahoney, Hallie Cook, Adam Melstrom, Maddox Mahoney, Valarie Melstrom, and Dane Mahoney; brothers, Roy Jr., Rueben, George, Greg, and Eddie; sisters, Lois, Rachael, Anna, and Susan; as well as his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Sr. and Jenny; and siblings Danny and Kathleen.
A Memorial Service honoring the life of John T. Ramirez will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street in Baldwin, WI, with Rev. Robert Dahm officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
