Marie L. Hovland, age 76 of Barron passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Monroe Manor in Barron.
After years of waiting patiently, “Hovland” was reunited with his beloved Marie on her 76th birthday. Marie spent a lifetime working, caring for family, spoiling grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loving the Green Bay Packers. Marie was a cherished daughter, mother, sister and aunt. She spent her life in the Barron County area and was well known and admired in the community. Marie worked at Jerome’s and then Jennie-O her whole career, but everyone who knew her understood that her side jobs were what kept her in casino money and gifts for “the kids”.
Marie is survived by her sons Pete (Mary) Hogan of Barron, Tom (Sheri Berg) Hogan of Chetek, Joe (Shannon) Hogan of Chippewa Falls, daughter Kathleen Stokes of Stone Lake, step-daughter Loni Hovland of Eau Claire, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, step-son-in-law Steven Hallam of Birchwood, brother Bill (Barbara) Rust of Cameron, sister Theresa (Carl) Shultz of Rice Lake, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-granddaughter Kyia Davidson, step-daughter Lisa Hallam, sisters Judy Nyhus and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Barron with Father Bala Raju Policetty officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday morning. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.
She will be greatly missed by friends and family and we would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the folks at Monroe Manor for taking such good care of our Marie and for helping her feel at home there. Go Pack Go!!
