from the office of State Senator Sheila Harsdorf
This month I held five listening sessions around the 10th Senate District. It was a great opportunity for me to receive direct feedback and interact with constituents. As I visited the different communities, including Grantsburg, Balsam Lake, New Richmond, Hudson and Menomonie, I heard a wide range of insights and opinions.
[emember_protected] My office generally receives more than 1,000 constituent contacts through mail, e-mail, Facebook, website, and phone calls in a given month. Constituents comment on pending legislation, offer suggestions on changing current law, provide general comments, or ask for assistance with state agencies. These various communications provide me with the opportunity to learn and get a sense of what people expect of state government. While opinions may vary, citizen input is extremely helpful as I work to represent the residents of our area.
During my latest round of listening sessions, many commented on their concerns with environmental protection, water quality, election and redistricting changes, as well as the need to provide public notice in our local newspapers. School funding is frequently discussed by constituents in their communication with me and my office. I would like to thank the more than 100 people that took time from their day to attend one of the listening sessions. I am encouraged by the interest that individuals are showing by getting involved, and staying involved in our government.
