A pair of tow dollies and crossbars with a $1,200 value were stolen from Mike’s Auto Body after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, December 10, from a F550 tow truck parked on the north side of the building. Owner Mike Barstad is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) involved.
The Knapp United Methodist Church now showcases a new cross. After donning the church for 25 years the cross was badly in need of repair. The new cross was fashioned by local craftsman Tom Link.
Second graders at Tiffany Creek Elementary School read a passage from Charlotte’s Web last Wednesday in hopes of breaking the Guinness World Record of “Most People Reading Aloud Simultaneously in Multiple Locations”. More than 500,000 people from 28 countries were registered to participate.

Will the Wilson Post Office be stamped out? Officials from the St. Paul branch of the United States Postal Service will conduct a meeting/hearing at the Wilson Community Center on Friday, December 6 at 10 a.m. to discuss the possible closing of the Wilson Post office. Since Wilson Postmaster Elaine Karnes retires in early May, MSC Manager Robert Fisher stated in a letter that “a review of the postal operations at the Wilson, WI post office revealed the current work load may not warrant the maintenance of an independent post office.”
An investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department into a town of Cady house fire that claimed the lives of three young children has revealed the cause of the fire to be accidental. The fire was at the Shawna Callahan residence.
People interested in air quality in the area of the Boyceville schools can attend an informational meeting at 7 p.m. on December 10 at the Tiffany Creek Elementary School Auditorium.

Of the vacancies to be filled in the four city office for Glenwood, only one candidate Bernhardt Jeske, filed his nomination papers before the deadline last week.
Over 130 people met at the Hudson House Monday evening, in an attempt to solidify the position of the three-county area of Polk-St. Croix-Pierce counties for consideration as an adult vocational and technical school area.
Miss Sally Mitch has been selected by her classmates and teachers for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution national association.
A two-headed calf was born recently at the Howard Marlette farm, Clayton, to a first calf holstein. The Black Angus bull calf, of artificial breeding, was joined at the back of the heads to an otherwise normal calf. The calf was dead at birth.

The tax levy in the Town of Springfield this year is $2,376.22 below the levy of last year. This year’s total is $67,836.25.
Fire about 9 o’clock Saturday evening destroyed 19 head of cattle, the barn, silo, milk and pump house and feed on the Adam Reich farm. The farm is located about 2.5 miles south and 4 miles west of Emerald Cemetery in the Town of Baldwin. The fire, of unknown origin, is believed to have started in the pump house.
The Community Chest has now climbed to $275.50. Contributions during the last two weeks added another $67.00 to the fund.

Blinded by snow and with his view obscured by the car ahead, Prof. Howard Rice, driving a load of young people from choir practice, slid into the sleigh of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Slindee last Thursday evening. Fortunately none of the occupants were injured, however one of the horses was badly crippled and had to be shot at once.
The St. Croix county board, already having spent $20,000 on Federal Trunk Highway No. 12, put a quietus on the attempt to change its route when they filed a protest against such change at the hearing held by the State Highway Commission last week.
Invitations are out for a “Womanless Wedding” to be held at the Civic hall the 28th. We always supposed the woman to be nine-tenths of the wedding, and are wondering what kind of a matrimonial innovation this can be.

Although no action was taken on the matter, a lengthy and somewhat heated debate over longer bar hours on Sunday took up a considerable amount of time at the Jan. 4 meeting of the Boyceville village board.
Because of recent complaints about unshovelled sidewalks in the Boyceville business district, the Boyceville Village Board discussed possible solutions to the problem at the January 4 meeting. No action was taken and the matter was referred to the street committee for further investigation.
A plugged chimney at the Ben Schlosser house at 408 First St. in Boyceville resulted in a call to the Boyceville Area Fire Dept. on Dec. 30. There was some smoke damage from the plugged chimney but no fire damage.
