Richard A. Emmert, age 79 of Ashland, WI passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 in Ashland.
Dick was born March 31, 1937 in Menomonie, WI the son of John R. and Lorraine (Waite) Emmert.
On May 9, 1959 he was united in marriage to Mary J. Ponto in Menomonie, WI. He was a supervisor for Wisconsin Bell Telephone for 37 years. He became very involved in the Ashland Kiwanis Club and the Ashland Elks Lodge. He was also a member of the Apostle Island Sportsman’s Association, the Telephone Pioneers and the Ashland Moose Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He owned and operated Woody’s Taxidermy in Ashland for over 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary, of Ashland; son, Jay (Nancy) of Ashland; daughter, Jan (Bob) Fehr of Colfax, WI; grandchildren, Drew (Grace) & Emily Emmert and Hayden Fehr; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Scholfield.
A Memorial Service for Dick will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ashland with Reverend Dale Chesley officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Church in Ashland and continue until the hour of service.
Interment will be private.
Memorials to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Ashland are preferred.
