The issue of whether or not to continue with adding fluoride to the city’s water supply may be placed on next April’s election in the form of a referendum. The City Council at its regular monthly meeting Monday night agreed to have the city attorney put together the necessary  work to get the ball rolling for the April election.

The Glenwood City mayor voted to break a tie vote on the matter of banning parking on First Street between Walnut Street and Syme Avenue.

A preliminary total of 336,211 deer were registered by hunters at the close of Wisconsin’s nine-day deer season.

In the latest episode over the evolving Hwy. 170 tug-of-war, Boyceville may have anchored their hopes by adding a DOT heavyweight to their side of the tussle. Tom McCarthy, the newly named director of the Dept. of transportation’s District 6 headquarters in Eau Claire, addressed a gathering of guests at the community center last Wednesday, and said that what they have pointed out “makes a lot of good sense.”

City officials warned last week that salt should not be  used on the new concrete sidewalks that were recently installed. The salt used to melt the ice on the new walks may damage the surface of the concrete.

The proposed City of Glenwood City budget for 1992 shows a tax levy that is almost unchanged from its present year, at about 2%.

An organizational meeting for the adult vocational classes to be offered at the Glenwood City high school, will be held at the high school on Wednesday evening, February 8. Classes will be offered in beginning typing, beginning carpentry, and drivers education. The registration fee for each class will be $2.00 per person.

38 St. Croix County dairymen were honored at a dairy recognition banquet and program at the Coachman Supper Club in Baldwin on January 18. Locals who were honored include Dave Logghe of Glenwood City, Robert Draxler of Glenwood City, Fred Schnitzler Jr. of Emerald, and Robert Palewicz.

Sheepmen from 13 counties met at Menomonie last week to organize the Northwest Wisconsin Sheep Producers Association, draw up a statement of purpose, name the board of directors and set a date for the first annual meeting.

Orval Smith, proprietor of the Smith’s Mobil Station at Downing, and George Obermueller and Earl Larson, representatives of the Socony Mobil Oil Co. in this area, are going to have a grand opening at the Smith’s Mobil Station in Downing on Saturday afternoon, December 22.

A continual decline in the percentage of positive patron samples in the Brucellosis Ring Testing Program is reported by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. At the conclusion of the 11th round of ring testing in the state, the percentage of positive patron samples has reached an all-time low and now stands at 8.6 percent.

The workday of Wisconsin farmers at the beginning of December averaged 11 hours, according to the Federal-State Crop Reporting Service for Wisconsin. The length of the workday showed little change from the past two years.

Armistice day will be observed in Glenwood City and throughout the country as a legal holiday. This is in accordance with a proclamation issued by President Harding. In Glenwood City the banks and probably the schools will be closed and Mayor Penke asks that between 10:45 and 11:00 o’clock (which is 11:45 and 12:00 Eastern time) every church and public bell be tolled.

Several cases have been reported to the Tribune where a disease called Hemhorragie Septicemia has visited dairy herds in this vicinity with deadly effect. 

Alex Evert received severe injuries last Monday when he fell off from the section motor car, which ran onto and nearly over him, breaking two ribs and bruising him painfully. Soo line Surgeon Park reports that Mr. Evert is no confined to his bed.

Students at Boyceville Junior High School will have more variety in their educational diet, when they start their second semester of the 1981-82 school year. Under a new policy approved by the Boyceville school board at its Dec. 17 meeting, junior students will now have modified study skills instructions program during their home room period.

It’s not your typical garage that Jim Evenson operates his Evenson Rebuilt Automobile Repair service out of. It’s an old barn that can house up to four cars. Working out of his father’s barn on the west end of Boyceville, Evenson has been going full-time at his work since he started a year ago and so far he likes being his own boss.

Wisconsin’s 4 percent general sales tax collections were $192 per person in 1980-81., 23rd highest among the 45 states with a general sales tax, according to the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance. Average per capita sales tax was $210.
