A “yield to pedestrians in crosswalk” sign reported missing from the Village of Colfax has been found at Club 40. The sign was apparently taken following a football game at the high school.
The Colfax Municipal Building Restoration Group’s 2007 Calendar of Colfax History “Country Schools” will be available at the craft sale at the Grapevine Senior Center November 18.
Nine Colfax football players were named all-conference in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference: Tyler Sikora, Josh Borofka, Lance Lauffer, Nathan Stobb, Dayne Hahn, Nick Albricht, Cody Cook, Ricky Hagen and Jeff Brewer.
Three Colfax volleyball players were named all-conference in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference: Becky Varnes, Abby Johnson and Kristen Laramy.

Brian Johnson of Colfax was severely injured when his right arm was caught in a corn picker Nov. 6. Johnson was transported by helicopter to United Hospital in St. Paul where he underwent emergency surgery to repair his arm. He also suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung and cuts and bruises.
People from Colfax on a bus trip to Branson, Missouri, sponsored by First American Bank Wisconsin were delayed two days getting home by the Halloween snowstorm. Those who went on the trip were Pat and Arnold Sumstad, Dick and Ona Toycen, Lloyd and Lillian Hainstock, Harold and Ruth Albricht, Elmer and Fran Bressler, Naomi Chilson, Babe Fjelstad, Jan (Wayne) Fehr, Marion Haugle, Bernice Eisenhuth, Hazel Lee, Mary Erickson, Vergene Viets, Javerna Morrill, Gladys Olson, Twylia Rose, Marlene Johnson, Donna Johnson and Clara Dressel.

At the Nov. 16 school board meeting, it was proposed that the Colfax school district will no longer grant regular high school diplomas to those who obtain GED certificates.
Juggling funds took up a good share of the Dunn County Board’s time during the two-day meeting Nov. 10-11. The 1982 budget was set at $13.5 million. [The 2017 budget is $78.4 million.]
Cheers filled the basement of the Colfax Municipal Building Nov. 15 as rockets finished their heat in the Cub Scouts’ Space Derby. Cub scouts built rocket-shaped craft suspended from wires and powered by rubber band propellers. First place was Jesse Felling; second place was Mike Anderson; third place was Anthony Eggert.

The Colfax High School basketball squad will be out to improve its 2-17 record of last year. Boys trying to make the squad are Richard Hones, Keith Noll, Dave Johnson, Dale Winget, Ken Bjork, Bruce Olson, Bryan Dobbs, and Larry Knudson, all letterman. Also trying out are Rick Sundby, Alan Larson, Jeff Peterson, Mike Peterson, John Olson and Bob Hanson.

About three inches of snow fell on Friday and several reports of 10 degrees below zero gave everyone a surprise touch of what’s ahead.

November 15, 1951
The Colfax Village Board approved the annexation of Village Cemetery which was formerly part of the Town of Colfax at a special meeting November 10. The annexation is expected to bring $400 more each year in state road aid.
The Russell-Toycen American Legion Post 131 has 175 members for 1952.
The Colfax Lutheran lutefisk and lefse dinner netted $525 with another $100 from the bazaar.

Next Tuesday evening, Nov. 21, at the auditorium in the municipal building will be held the first “Community Sing.” The singing meetings will begin promptly at 8 o’clock. Everybody is invited and expected to sing. Song books will be for sale for 15 cents each.
A post card social will be held at the Prairie School Saturday evening, Nov. 18th. Ladies bring a postal and either cake, cookies or sandwiches.
The post office department is pushing a recommendation that names on envelopes be spelled out in full in order to avoid confusion.
The fifth annual potato show and convention will be held at Eau Claire Nov. 21-24. The potato judging contest for boys and girls will be conducted at the Training School one block west of the convention hall.
