JOHN DUANE OLSON

On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, the sun shone a little brighter as God came to take John Duane Olson home.

John was born on January 30, 1951 to the late Lewis and Lena (Buchner) Olson in Colfax, Wisconsin. He grew up and attended school in Colfax graduating with the class of 1969. He went on to study as a machinist working in the Twin Cities for a few years before returning to the family dairy farm. In 1987, he joined his brother, David, as an agent with Big Rivers Insurance. For the past 13 years he worked alongside his daughter, Amy, as well.

He loved the outdoors either fishing, riding his Harley, flying or spending time with family and friends. He was a very accomplished woodworker having crafted countless pieces of specialty furniture and cabinetry.

He was most wonderful, loving, kind husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

The warmth of his smile and laughter lit up the room. He had a special way to make everyone feel important and special. God took one of the best to his side and John will be deeply missed by everyone he knew.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Loretta N. Olson; children, Dessin (Laura) Campbell, Aaron Campbell, Amy (Mike) Olson; grandchildren, Christian (Haley) Fulkerson, Trevor and Cole Olson, Annabella, Lauren and Kate Campbell, Jesse, Tommy, and Luke Anderson; great granddaughter, Kylie; siblings, James (Arlene) Olson, Joan (Ken) Close, David (Stich) Olson; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A Memorial Gathering was held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Evergreen Funeral Home (off Golf Road one block east of Hwy 93) with Rev. Steven Crites leading a service at 3:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at a later date. Evergreen Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
