MARY TIFFANY SMITH

Mary Tiffany Smith, age 92, originally of Downing, WI, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Glenhaven, Inc. in Glenwood City, WI with hospice.

Mary was born October 8, 1923 in Connorsville, WI. She was the daughter of Clyde and Leora (Stone) James. She attended grade school in Cranetown and high school in Downing. On September 8, 1940 Mary married Orval Smith at the Downing United Methodist Church.

While farming, they raised six children and later owned and operated a farm implement business in Downing. Upon retirement, she and Orval enjoyed traveling while buying and selling antiques. They spent several winters in the south with friends and family at Paradise South in Mercedes, TX, Apache Junction and Quartzite, AZ.

One of Mary’s greatest passions in life was visiting and playing Scrabble with her children and grandchildren on her computer. She enjoyed copying off her recipes from her computer and sharing them with family and friends. Nothing pleased Mary more than to visit and hold her great grandbabies. At 92, Mary was still visiting her family and friends through facebook, and email. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children: Jerry (Betty Jean) Smith of Downing, Jim (Diane) Smith of Abbotsford, Gordy (Cindy) Smith of Boyceville, Nylla (Tom) Hanson of Amery and Rollie (Peggy) Smith of Baldwin, Daughter in law Donna Smith of Baldwin; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; brothers Edwin (Ardy) James of Downing and Harold (Alievia) James of Menomonie; sister and brother-in-law Juanita James and Gene Smith. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mary is preceded in death her parents, husband Orval, son Lane Smith, brothers Wesley and Donald James, and sisters Hazel Couch, Genevieve Schuett and Helen Krig.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Boyceville, WI with Reverend Timothy Matthaei officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, Downing, WI. Friends may call at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
