Can Hillary’s Presidency survive all the issues?

If the presidential election were held today, I have no doubt that Hillary Clinton would win. At present she leads in all polls by six to nine points and if my memory serves me right the polls at election time have been very accurate.

In my memory, the only time that they were not was in 1948, I was pretty young then, but even the New York papers had Dewey winning over Truman. Harry (the buck stops here) Truman went on to serve his own four year term.

But, as I have watched the campaign unfold over the past month or so, Hillary’s past transgressions will be a major distraction for her as president. She needs to come clean and the American people need to know what happened and why.

There are still the unanswered questions about the Benghazi attack in which four Americans lost their lives and why no air or rescue mission was attempted to save them.

We have the questions about her actions as Secretary of State and the Clinton Foundation, which appears that if you, as a foreign entity gave money to the foundation you got some sort of deal from the State Department. It’s been labeled “Pay for Play.”

Then there is the unending controversy over those e-mail. How can one person send and received so many? Last Tuesday morning I heard a report, apparently penned by one of her assistants, that she was even e-mailing from the shower.

But whenever there is a controversy or other detractions in the White House, the country’s business suffers. It seems that we can’t move forward when there is an issue that needs to be resolved. It was Bill Clinton’s “I did not have sex with that woman.” Richard Nixon, “I am not a crook.”  And then there was Ronald Reagan’s Iran-Contra affair.

Hillary, to my way of looking at things, appears to be ill. What’s going on there? She will be 69 years young in October. But then Donald Trump is a year older. Reagan was the oldest person to serve as president. He was 69 years, 349 days old when he assumed the office and 77 years, 349 days old when he left the White House.

Hillary needs to get out of the controversy business and give the American people all the information and let them decide. This is not to say that Donald Trump doesn’t have some things that need to be cleaned up also.
