Francis E. “Frank” Swanepoel, age 93, of Glenwood City, WI died Monday, August 22, 2016 at Glenhaven Inc. with hospice.
Frank was born October 21, 1922 in the Township of Forest, WI to Leon and Camila (Myny) Swanepoel. He attended school at Camp 14. Following his father’s death Frank operated the family farm until retiring when he was 58.
Frank married Betty Tourville on May 8, 1946 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Glenwood City. He enjoyed playing softball, ice fishing, deer hunting, woodworking and mounting deer sheds. He was a life long member of St. John’s Catholic Church where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved traveling west to hunt and to Canada fishing. He also loved his Farmall H and watching westerns. Frank was able to stay at his home for eight more years before moving into Glenhaven because of the care he received from his daughter, Karen.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty in 1999 and two brothers William and Emil.
Frank is survived by seven children: Sally (Jim) Christianson of Emerald, WI, Julie (Randal) Gast of Chaska, MN, Karen Joles of Boyceville, WI, Susan (Roger) Miller of Glenwood City, WI, Patty (Steve) Warner of Emerald, WI, Gary (Debra) Swanepoel of Amery, WI and Scott Swanepoel of Ridgeland, WI; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and sisters June Stack and Margaret Klinger. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father John Long as Celebrant. Interment of cremains will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the Anderson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m.
