EDGAR W. “BUTCH” BARSTAD

Edgar W. “Butch” Barstad, age 75, of Boyceville, WI passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

He was born March 2, 1941 in Almena, CA to Edgar and Mabel (DeLong) Barstad.  After moving with his family to Wisconsin he graduated from Glenwood City High School.

On April 15, 1961 Butch married Maryetta Schmidt in Connorsville.  They lived in the Boyceville area for many years.

He worked for the Village of Boyceville for over 25 years, retiring in 2004 and was also a volunteer firefighter. Butch was a jack of all trades and could fix anything that needed repair or do building construction and even built their home.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, cutting wood and taking trips around the country side on his motorcycle.  He also enjoyed trips to the St. Croix Casino and playing slot machine games on the computer as well as sitting on the deck watching the birds.

Butch is survived by his wife Maryetta; sons, Mark (Tanya), Brian, Kevin (Deb), Darcy (Dawn), and Wayne; daughter Valerie (Mike) Hrabak; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda (Roger) Schone, Roger Barstad, Jane Peterson, Timothy (Peggy) Barstad and Mike Barstad; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Joey; and daughter Celina.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Craig Conklin officiating.  There will be visitation at the funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
