DCREA Outstanding Volunteer Award presented to Boyceville resident

Each year, the WI Retired Educators’ Association (WREA) recognizes outstanding leaders for volunteerism. WREA is a professional organization representing Wisconsin’s retired educational community with over 12,000 members and 62 local units.

During the past year, WREA members from around WI volunteered over 248,900 hours valued at over $5,000,000 serving more than 800 organizations across WI. Local Dunn County Retired Educators’ Association (DCREA) members volunteered over 4,000 hours valued at over $88,000 to over 45 organizations within the Dunn County area. Volunteerism included working with youth, elderly, students, community service organizations, churches, and health care.

Carol Erickson, DCREA, was recently recognized for her outstanding volunteerism to the Dunn County area. During the past year, Carol donated 826 volunteer hours. Organizations benefitting from Carol’s dedicated service were: United Way, West Cap, Boyceville Ambulance Service, Boyceville Elementary and Middle Schools, Trinity Lutheran Church, Community Coat Closet, Backpack Project, The Mitten Tree Project, as well as others. Past recipients of this award were Bob Spinti, and Jan Friest.

DCREA will meet on Monday, July 18, 2016, 12:00 noon, at the Menomonie Senior Center. The program will include a presentation by the Dunn County Humane Society. School supplies for area schools, and pet supplies for the Dunn County Humane Society will be collected. All Dunn County area retired educators are invited to attend.
