A Little Humor!
They say laughter is good for the heart, and I thought that something lite may just be the thing we need, as we are back to work after the July Fourth weekend.
Conan put out a couple of jokes on his late night show: “In a speech yesterday, Donald Trump spoke in favor of water boarding. Trump said, “It’s how I got two of my three wives to say yes.”
Hillary Clinton unveiled her new technology plan, which would offer broadband internet access to all Americans. Then she quickly added, “Except for my husband.”
On the Comics page in the Eau Claire Leader of last Saturday, the strip of Mallard Fillmore caught my attention. It reads: “Wayne State University is dropping Math as a graduation requirement. While, considering adding a Diversity course requirement. To increase the number of students majoring in “Unemployment.” ”
On a more serious note, we learned last week that Minnesota Blue Cross/ Blue Shield is dropping some 103,000 health insurance polices in that state because the company has lost millions of dollars in the last three years since the Affordable Health Care Act came online. I learned that those 103,000 will have to apply for Obama Care by the end of the year. It seems that every time the federal government gets involved with some thing, it goes right down the drain.
If you still have not planned a little get-away for this summer, may I recommend a little trip around Wisconsin’s, Highway 13? You can catch it off Highway 8 near Prentice and head north through Park Falls, Glidden and to Mellen. It is a must to stop to see Copper Falls at Mellen. Continuing north, to Ashland, Washburn and into Bayfield and Madeline Island where the view of Lake Superior is the greatest scene in the state.
Following 13 as it turns west along the north shore of the big lake, passing through the communities of Cornucopia, Herbster and I highly recommend turning to the marina at Port Wing to view the lake for a few minutes.
Then 13 travels into Superior and Duluth, and there is plenty to see and do in the twin ports. If you have time, a trip up the Minnesota North Shore in very enjoyable.
We made this trip back in May and enjoyed it very much. Take your camera along.
Thanks for reading! ~Carlton
