Jeannette C. Hansen, formerly of Colfax, died Wednesday, May 25th at the age of 96.

Jeannette was born July 18, 1919 in St. Paul, MN to Albert and Thelma Gossel. She was raised in the Woodville area. On July 2, 1939 she married Martin E. ‘Mike’ Hansen in Colfax, WI.

As a true homemaker, Jeannette assisted Mike with his Fuller Brush business, served family and community as a creative seamstress and quilter, lived her faith as an active church member, gardened, canned, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and raised her children.

Throughout her life her driving desire was to stay busy and to help others. She preferred to work quietly, whether it was sorting donations after the Colfax tornado, clearing a neighbor’s sidewalk or helping someone who needed special assistance. She was often seen moving at her customary fast pace delivering delicious cookies or casseroles to others. In 1989 she was named Colfax Woman of the Year. She continued many of her charitable activities when she moved to Osceola at the age of 88.

Jeannette was a wonderful wife, mother and friend, giving unconditional love to all her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Patricia (Carly) Carlson, Kathy Schneider, Robert (Shelly) Hansen, sister Celia (David) Freiberg, brother Gordon (Vivian) Gossel, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 1st at Peace Lutheran Church in Dresser. There will be a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 2nd at Colfax Lutheran Church in Colfax and the family will greet friends on hour prior. Private interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Colfax.  Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola.
