Lee appointed as new Boyceville Village Clerk

BOYCEVILLE – Darlene Lee has been appointed as the new Village Clerk of Boyceville, Wisconsin.
Lee accepted the position at the end of March, taking the reigns from previous Village Clerk, Cindy Swanepoel, who passed away in February. Swanepoel served the Boyceville community as Village Clerk for over thirty years.
“Those are some big shoes to fill for sure,” said Lee. “Cindy knew everything and anything about the village here.”
Lee had served under Swanepoel as Deputy Clerk since 2011.
Prior to becoming Deputy Clerk, Lee worked as a payroll secretary for Boyceville Schools and also worked in the guidance department.
Lee says even though she has only been in the position for a month, every day presents new challenges.
“Right now things have calmed down as far as the work load goes,” she said. “I anticipate budget and tax times to be particularly challenging.”
Lee will be attending classes later this month through WMCA (Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association), where she will gain valuable knowledge regarding her new position as Village Clerk.
Lee was born and raised in Connorsville until moving to Boyceville in 1979, where she has lived ever since.
She is the proud mother of three adult children and the grandmother of three young grandchildren.
Lee’s eldest son resides in Boyceville along with her three grandchildren and works for the family milk trucking business. Lee inherited the trucking business from her late husband sixteen years ago. Lee has since remarried.
Lee’s daughter is a registered nurse and resides in Texas, while her youngest son is finishing up schooling in Rochester to become a surgical first assistant.
