Chelsie Harder, 2003 Colfax High School graduate, is one of 34 UW-River Falls students living, traveling and studying for four months in Europe.
A commission being formed to explore the feasibility of forming an ambulance district will conduct its first meeting April 19 at the rescue squad building.
The Colfax fire department responded to a grass fire south of Whitetail Golf Course April 13.

Pat Eilers, a rookie defensive back with the Minnesota Vikings in 1990, will be the guest speaker at the Colfax High School athletic banquet.
Rescue squad personnel came to the aid of simulated traffic victims during the mock traffic accident that was part of the Rest of Your Life program at Colfax High School April 10. Pete Johnson, Nancy Hainstock and Fred Goers prepared the victims for extrication. Acting as victims were Teresa and Vicki Johnson, daughters of Al Johnson, rescue squad supervisor.
Gail Svee submitted her resignation as librarian effective April 30.

Seven Colfax High School seniors and six Elk Mound High School seniors will be honored at the UW-Stout student recognition banquet April 29. From Colfax: Tony Alms, Shirley Burton, Kelly Gilligan, Marilyn Peterson, Mary LaRue, Tamara Stovern and Michael Strand. From Elk Mound: Bruce Myers, Si Van Dong, Paul Wildes, Kathy Kistner, Jean Amundson and Mary Holte.
The Colfax Cystic Fibrosis Bike-A-Thon is scheduled for May 2. A six-mile route will run southeast of Colfax starting at the Colfax Fairgrounds.
Peggy Christianson was the winner of the Happy Snacker table at the OK Hardware grand opening.

Linda Jahr has been selected as the valedictorian of Colfax High School Class of 1966. Ruth Ann Gotliebson has been chosen as the salutatorian of the CHS Class of 1966.
More than 50 people attended the April meeting of the Colfax Civic Club to enjoy a charcoaled steak supper and watch motion pictures of the Green Bay Packers football games. Lester Jenneman was elected as president of the Civic Club.
Firemen were summoned April 13 to the Victor Sundby home northeast of the village where they fought a stubborn blaze in the upper portion of the house. At the same time, a grass fire by the Rose Jacobson home in the village broke out. The day before, a fire in one of the houses on the former Willis Brenner farm, now owned by the Suvada brothers, David, Richard and Gary, was the cause of another run by the Colfax Fire Department.

Between 600 and 700 were served free coffee and pastry at the Colfax Bakery on their fifth anniversary.
Stuart Barstad, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Barstad, will speak over the St. Olaf College radio station at Northfield, Minnesota, on Saturday. Stuart is a member of the senior class at Colfax High School.
A White Leghorn hen on the Otto Waldbuesser farm on Route 1 laid an egg that measured 8 5/8 inches around the length and 6 3/8 inches around the other way.

Byron, the nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Viets, had a close call from drowning in the mill pond a few days ago. He fell from a tree or a limb that extended over the river’s edge into deep water but was rescued by older companions, without any bad effect as a result of his chilly bath.
The Webster-Iverson Land Agency has listed for sale a 137-acre farm one mile from Colfax. It includes a milk wagon, bottles, bottle filler, bottle washer, engine and ice box. The price is $12,000; $16,000 will buy all the stock, horses, machinery and personal property.
The Colfax library loaned 256 juvenile books and magazines in March and 194 adult books and magazines.
