MARY ANN MILLS NYHUS
Mary Ann Mills Nyhus, age 84, of Woodville, WI passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Parkview Nursing Home in Woodville, WI.
Mary Ann was born June 14, 1931 in Chippewa County, WI. to Clarence and Pearl (Bates) Mills. She grew up in Eau Claire and Hersey, WI where she graduated high school from Woodville in 1949.
Mary Ann met Stanley Peter Nyhus “Stub” at the Roller Rink in Hersey, WI. They fell in love and were married on September 20, 1952 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Glenwood City, WI. They bought and farmed Stub’s family farm between Downing and Wilson on County Rd W. They were almost married 50 years before Stub’s passing.
They were blessed with 4 children Michael, Steven, Mark and Cynthia. Mary Ann worked along side her husband on the farm and later at Glenhaven as a certified nursing assistant & medication aide. She was very excited when she passed her CNA certification. She later worked at McMillan Electric in Woodville assembling motors for 18 years before retiring due to illness. She lost her son Mark in a roofing accident in 1984. This broke her heart, but through faith in God she was able to cope. Mary Ann loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to bake, she would make bars and cookies then freeze them for the times friends would visit for coffee and fellowship. Some of her children and grandchildren would sneak the treats out of the containers in the freezer and she would always wonder where they went. Her children of course were always innocent, when asked. She loved to knit and crochet for family members. She enjoyed attending the ladies group at Holy Cross Lutheran Church for quilting and fellowship every month. She had a soft and gentle heart. Mary Ann always tried to speak kind words and she was willing to help someone if they needed it.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, husband Stub in 2002, son Mark in 1984, brothers Clarence Jr. and Robert, uncle Joe Lavoie, and goddaughter Donna McCarthy Donley.
