Marlin P. Knoepke, age 72, passed away at the Wisconsin Veterans Home-King in Waupaca in the company of his friends. 

He was born on December 24, 1943, to Paul and Ruby (Rufledt) Knoepke in the Town of Grant in Dunn County.  Marlin took part in over 900 missions as helicopter gunner in the US Army 1st Air Cavalry during Vietnam; earning four Purple Hearts, nine Air Medals, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked as a logger for most of his life and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.

He is survived by his siblings: Lester Knoepke, Jane (Ronald) Buchner, Virgil (Dawn A.) Knoepke and brother-in-law: Ed Styer; several nieces, nephews, cousins with special family members, Dawn R., Doug, Tim, and Josh Knoepke, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Paul and Ruby; siblings: Delvin Knoepke and Phyllis Styer.

A grave side service will be held at the Cornell Cemetery, located on the corner of HWY 64 and HWY 178 in Cornell, on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 1:00 PM with military honors performed by the Bloomer American Legion and VFW, the Patriot Guard Riders and Souls of Honor.  Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family.  Online Condolences may be expressed at
