A daughter, Isabelle Elizabeth Topper was born Jan. 3 to Brandon and Sheila Topper of Eau Claire.
A son, Vincenzo Paul Pedicone was born Jan. 2 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire to Jim and Sara (formerly Cook) Pedicone of Augusta.
After losing their first basketball game of the season to Mondovi, the Colfax girls bounced back with a win over Boyceville to maintain a one game lead in the D-SC Conference.

A daughter, Bayleigh Marie Repaal, was born Dec. 27 to Kyle and Kendra Repaal of Colfax at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
David and Sharon Gullickson are the parents of a boy, Darin William Gullickson born Jan. 14 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls.
Discussion on whether or not to buy the former bank building in downtown Colfax occupied much of the time of the Village Board at the Jan. 14 meeting.
After wins over Spring Valley and Plum City, the Elk Mound boys took over sole possession of first place in the conference as Jeff Coss scored 25 points in the two games. Colfax remains tied for second after a win over Glenwood City as Ryan Butterfield scored a season high 29 points with six three point shots.

A January thaw reached the area last week with temperatures climbing to 53 degrees for two afternoons running.
After official word that Colfax will have to move its sewage treatment plant came from the Wis. DNR, village board president Mike Hanson was prompted to confront DNR personnel in Madison and convinced them to review the order.
Led by Dave Gullickson’s 17 points, the Colfax boys won their third straight game with an upset win over Boyceville, helping Elk Mound to move in to first place in the conference with their triumph over Arkansaw who are ranked 11th in the state. Bruce Myers and Kevin Malnory combined for 44 points in the Mounder’s win.

A son named Douglas Michael was born Jan. 12 to Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Berg of Bloomington, Minnesota.
Colfax Merchant’s basketball team bowed to Cadott 86-72 in Indianhead Conference play.Mike Saumer led Colfax with twenty points.
Layton Anderson has sold his cattle trucking business to Richard H. Johnson.

A new pulpit made of white oak was dedicated in memory of Mrs. Elbert Hill at the Methodist Church last Sunday morning.
Lyman J. Lowry, seaman, USN of Colfax is serving aboard the destroyer minelayer USS Shea in the Mediterranean.
Donnie Hammer scored 37 points in two wins for the Colfax high team as they bested Spring Valley 51-49 and Hudson 46-42.

A consignment of material was unloaded here Tuesday morning for the towers for the proposed power line from Chippewa Falls to St. Paul, and which passes two miles north of our village.
Dennis Regan, an inmate of the Dunn County Asylum,was killed last Friday after being trampled by a bull when he entered its stall while engaged in his regular work.
The Downing high school team proved easy picking for Colfax last Friday with the final score being 43 points for our local boys to the visitors 8. It was plain to see that the Downing boys knew about as much about basket ball as a hen does about the geography of the moon.
