Renee Knutson and Mathew Goodell, both of Colfax, were married Nov. 7 at the Special Memories Chapel in Las Vegas, NV

A son, Andrew Munro Carlson, was born Dec. 31 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau to Joseph and Jennifer Carlson of Mosinee.

After wins over Pepin and Elmwood, the Colfax girls are now 9-0 midway through the basketball season.

Elk Mound public works director Terry Stamm received a plaque for 30 years of service during the Jan. 3 village board meeting.

Married Dec. 22 at Menomonie Alliance Church were Cynthia Larson of Colfax and Todd Ronnander of Elmwood.

A son, Travis John Berge, was born Dec. 19 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire to Mark and Ginny Berge, Colfax.

Members of the WAXX radio Super Stars basketball team came to town and played the Colfax FFA Alumni team in a game to raise funds for the Alumni program.

Colfax tripped up Elk Mound in girls’ basketball action 49-34 as Jodi Bosch scored 19 points to lead the Vikings while Vicky Christopherson led the Mounders with 10.

Mike Lucas, a 54 year old retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant, will be regularly reporting news and features for the Colfax Messenger.

Colfax school board members voted to buy a new 35 passenger bus from Midstate Truck Service for $15,473.

Dick Cockeram is the new owner of Dick’s Shoe Repair on busy Menomonie Street in Elk Mound.

Behind 22 points from Jamie Knudson and 21 from Dave Gullickson, the Colfax boys won their first game of the season 66-59 over Cameron.

Miss Nancy Ludwigson of Bloomer became the bride of David H. Johnson of New Auburn Jan. 8 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer.

Glen Boughton, a lifetime farmer from Colfax, was elected a director of Wisconsin Association of Fairs at the annual meeting in Milwaukee.

Richard Puhl of Colfax, a student at Eau Claire State University, is listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Miss LaVonne J. Lange of Colfax, became the bride of L. Wayne Hanson, also of Colfax, Dec. 28.

Christmas trees, poinsettias and candlelabra formed the setting in Holden Lutheran Church Dec. 30 when Miss Doris Logslett of Colfax exchanged wedding vows with Stanley Broberg of Rock Falls.

Philip Felland, Jack Malmin, Clyde Teppin and Rolf Lunn all left Tuesday for Minneapolis to take physical examinations for the Air Corps. After passing their physicals, the boys will go to San Antonio, Texas for training.

Work has been going on for some time on fitting up the west rooms over Ole Noer’s store to be used as a hospital, and it is expected before spring it will be ready to use.

The game of basket ball on Friday night between Elk Mound and this city was witnessed by a good sized audience. The locals came out victors by a score of 36 to 20. Pooler and Fjelstad led in point making, each caging seven field baskets and playing a fast game besides.

Alonzo D. Frasl who was not quite two years old, died Jan. 23 after a short illness with whooping cough and pneumonia.
