2005 Colfax graduate Chism D. Michels, Army private, has successfully completed basic training, individual infantry training, and the airborne course at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Colfax senior Tiffany Bachman has been selected as the Bremer Bank Youth of the Month for January.
The Colfax girls’ basketball team defeated Park Falls at the AAU Holiday Classic at UW-Stout 45-34 as Heather Hubbard scored 14 points to lead the Vikings.
Behind a 23 point performance by Amanda Irwin, the Mounder girls defeated Chippewa Falls McDonell 41-39 in overtime.

Married Sept. 22 were Sheri Hoke and Dennis Lloyd at St. John’s Catholic Church, Cooks Valley.
Family members helped Lawrence and Katie Follingstad, formerly of Colfax, celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Dec. 23.
The Colfax wrestling squad lost 36-23 to Glenwood City in conference action. Winning individual matches for the Vikings were Justin Best, Travis Anderson, Curt Henderson, Ryan Seehaver, Jason Ebling and Mike Anderson.

Seven candidates will be seeking a spot on the Colfax school board including Donald Berge, Kenneth Bjork, Mary Clemtson, Jacob Loew, Larry Osterberg, Larry Tribolini and incumbent and Alton Anderson.
Elk Mound moved into second place in the conference in boy’s basketball action with a 67-56 win over Colfax. Kevin Malnory led the Mounders with 24 points while the Vikes were led by Jamie Knudson’s 22 points.
Colfax Village Board members were not very happy when they were informed by the DNR they must build a new sewage plant after being told earlier they could just rehabilitate the old one. “The DNR can go to h—,” board president Dean Borofka said.

Airman David L. Jensen of Elk Mound, has been assigned to Kincheloe AFB, Mich. after completing Air Force basic training.
Mrs. Joe Weirus discovered a small red box-like affair outside her home which had been dropped to the ground with a small sized parachute. It turned out to be a weather instrument and directions on it were to return it to the U.S. Department of Commerce at Joliet, Illinois.
Colfax matmen secured their first win of the season 31-21 over Spring Valley. Duane Schindler, Curt Johnson, Dave Swartz and Tom Harstad won by pins and Norman Hoff and Joe Larson posted decisions for the Vikings.

January 4, 1951
T. M. Barstad recently bought the stock, fixtures and lease of the Sundby building and opened Barstad’s Super Market last week. Over one thousand people visited the store Friday and Saturday, the opening days.
Delbert Olson, Earl Isakson and Douglas Iverson will leave for service with the U.S. Army today.
Lael Virginia Taylor and Verne Robert Schneider repeated wedding vows Dec. 16 at Evangelical Church at Menomonie.

Lenys Emily Anderson died at age fourteen at the home of her parents in the village after suffering from pleurisy and pneumonia since the age of six.

The fine new bank building for the Peoples State bank is to be thrown open to the public next Thursday and the management plans to make it a day of entertainment to their customers and friends.
