ROY GARY GRUEL
Roy G. Gruel, age 74, of Hawkins, WI passed away peacefully in his home, on December 24, 2015.
Roy was born December 20, 1941 in Milwaukee to Elmer and Blanche Gruel. He was raised on the family farm in southern Wisconsin and graduated from high school in Mukwonago, Wisconsin in 1959. Roy joined the US Air Force on September 11th 1959 and served his country loyally from 1959 to 1965 as an airplane mechanic. His duty included an overseas tour to Okinawa, Japan. He received the Air Force longevity Service Award and Good Conduct Medal. He married Karen Marsh in 1965 and was blessed with four charming children.
He is survived by his faithful dog Snowball; his children Roy (Brenda) Gruel of Somerset, Scott (Heidi) Gruel of New Hope, Cheryl Gilbert of Somerset and Brenda Gruel of Star Prairie. Roy is further survived by 12 grandchildren: Jordan Gruel, Ally, Calvin and Jack Gruel, Samantha and Danielle Norman, Sean and Cory Gilbert, Adrien and Alexander Culp, and Kelsie and Kristie Knops; brother Ray (Georgette) Gruel of Frederic; several nieces nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Blanche Gruel; brother Gene Gruel and Karen Gruel.
Roy will be remembered by family and friends for his sense of humor and joke telling ability. Roy will be laid to rest at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.
A celebration of life will be held on January 1, 2016 at 3 p.m., at son Roy Gruel’s home, 606 Lakeside Lane, Somerset, WI.
