Kelly Welke of Colfax and Joe Burgess of Bloomer were married Sept. 24 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer.

At the end of the Nov. 21 meeting, the Colfax board of education approved the hiring of Dennis Geissler as the district’s next superintendent of schools, succeeding Dr. Lee Bjurquist who is retiring at the end of the current school year.

Colfax graduate Cara Turner, Miss Rodeo Wisconsin, will be competing for the title Miss Rodeo America 2006 at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Members of the Colfax FFA Alumni and the high school FFA erected welcome signs at the southern and easter edges of Highway 40.

Three staff members of Area Nursing Home of Colfax including Jean Fox, Susan Prince and Mary Ellen Mathews, recently passed American Nurses Association national tests to become certified Gerontological Nurses.

Behind the 33 point, 20 rebound performance from Vicky Christopherson, the Elk Mound girls earned their third straight win, 78-59 over Pepin-Arkansas.

Colfax graduate Wendy Larson, a junior at UW-River Falls was named to the WWIAC all conference volleyball team.

Tyler Thomas was born Nov. 23 to Tom and Pam Moen of Colfax.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ziegler (Peterson) of Benson, Minn, a daughter Sarah Marie, Nov. 13.

Elk Mound’s village board voted Dec. 8 to contract with Colfax for ambulance services at an estimated cost of $1200 or $2 per capita.

The first sizable snowfall resulting in village residents having to use their shovels, occurred Dec. 8.

David Henderson of Colfax has accepted a teaching position with the Deerfield Public Schools (Wisconsin) and will teach Junior High general science and mathematics.

Effective Dec. 6, telephone subscribers in the Wheeler exchange will have to dial all seven digits when calling all other Wheeler subscribers.

The children of Mr. and Mrs. Seph Peterson will hold an open house in honor of their parents’ golden wedding anniversary at the Zion Lutheran Church in Sand Creek Dec. 19.

Former Colfax resident CPO Malcolm Moe, son of Rev. and Mrs. S.M. Moe, is in the very thick of the campaign to help clear the path for the invasion of the U.S. and South Korean ground troops.

An estimated 200 deer were killed by hunters of this community during the open season which permitted hunters to kill any deer including buck, doe or fawn.

Mr. and Mrs. Guy Jenson of Colfax will celebrate their silver wedding anniversary Dec. 3 with an open house at the Colfax Auditorium.

December 10, 1915

Miss Anna P. Thue of Norton and James C. Dunn of Chippewa Falls, were united im marriage Nov. 30 at the residence of Rev. A. P. Lea in Chippewa Falls.

Mesdames E. J. Dalton, Chas. Granger and A.C. Chase, members of the local Beaver Colony, entertained at the latter’s home Saturday evening in honor of their two departing members, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Clark.

At Rye’s Hall last Thursday evening, thirty five of the business men of Colfax assembled to pass an hour with a retiring business associate, O.J. Tilleson who owned the general store here in the village.
