LOUISE S. ULLOM

Louise S. (Schug) Ullom, age 88 of Glenwood City died Monday evening on November 23, 2015 at Glenhaven.

Born on January 24, 1927 in Glenwood City to Joseph and Josephine (Gillis) Schug. She moved to Minnesota after her High School graduation and she worked at Honeywell for a brief time. On February 9, 1946, she became the bride of Bill Ullom in Minneapolis where they lived until 1953 before returning to her hometown to raise a family of 16 children as full-time housewife and mother.

Louise was locally sourcing her family’s food well before any of those fancy chefs out there. Her beef roast and baked chicken was said to be the best in the county. Her strong faith was supported by her faith family as a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. After retirement from farming, Louise & Bill enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings. Her bingo and card playing continued into her 80s at the Senior Center where she enjoyed time spent with friends and especially Cheryl Hillman, her at home helper. Her time at Glenhaven was just 2 1/2 years but in that brief time she told amazing and funny stories to her caring and loving team of caregivers. Louise simply adored and loved babies and with each new birth in the family she had a felt gratitude for God’s blessing of a new child as well as a true sense of joy and pride.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill in 2002, all her siblings and their spouses as well one grandchild, Traci.
